Great new service: Rugby Vacancies

Andy Lockwood, a serving Major in the British Army, has set up a great service for all rugby coaches looking for new roles. He takes up the story: “Rugby Vacancies started up in May 2017 as a means of publicising rugby coaching roles I was finding. It’s completely free to use and available on Facebook and Twitter (@RugbyVacancies).

“I will be launching the website in the next few weeks, www.rugbyvacancies.co.uk. The complete range of vacancies are advertised from the All Blacks Defensive Coach role, from a few months ago, to local voluntary roles with grassroots rugby clubs. It has coaching, S&C, physio, team management and backroom staff roles from any country that plays rugby. It will assist those who are already coaches looking for a new role, those looking to get into rugby coaching and players who want to develop coaching as a post-playing career option.”

I asked Andy, who played and coached with the Infantry, what led him to develop this service:

“I initially began looking for rugby coaching roles for myself and was emailing friends with roles I thought suitable for them.  I was sending quite a few emails and thought it would be great if there was a central location for people to view. I have spent the last two seasons with Bath Academy as an S&C intern to broaden my rugby knowledge.  I am also a rugby coach with the Bath Rugby Community Department.”
