The sequence below shows the technique of the spin pass from catch to release.
Developing the skill
Start with the ball carrier running at about 50% of his top speed for 10m and passing to a receiver about 5m away off his strong hand. Gradually build up the running speed and distance he is passing.
Ensure the pass is always given out in front of the receiver for him to run on to. Practise the skill, passing from both sides, and encourage the player to follow and support his pass.
Add a third player so the middle player is receiving and giving a spin pass as he is running. Start slowly and gradually increase the running speed and passing distance.
