Set up
A 10m wide, 5m long box and ruck pad.
What you get your players to do
Put a feeder (normally a 9) at the edge of one side of the box, a receiver in the middle, a defender with a ruck pad opposite him and finally a support player on the far corner. Have the feeder pass the ball to the receiver who has to take and give a pass before the defender makes contact with him.
Look for
The receiver reaching early for the ball. The receiver slightly drifting with the pass to help him release the pass more effectively. The support player holding his run, before taking the pass at pace.
Development
Make the box wider and longer and add another defender and another attacker, so there are now two passes under pressure. Have the feeder throw “poor” passes, like along the ground or too high to challenge the first receiver. Add an attacker in position for an inside pass.
Notes
Look at the length and strength of the feeder pass to see if you can make the receiver stand further away. Make sure you change the direction of passing.
