Place two attackers and a defender in the middle of a box, which is 3m wide. On “GO”, players move to their starting positions as in the first picture.
You pass to the middle attacker and the game is live. The ball carrier has to step in to fix the drifting defender and create the space for his support player outside.
Emphasise the importance of keeping the hips square when stepping off the outside foot so the player is not facing away from his team mate.
If fixed properly, the defender will not be able to get to the support player after the pass is given. Run the game as scrag or full contact to make it realistic.
