Put your receivers’ skills under pressure from both the left and the right with this activity, which is quick to set up and is fast-paced.
Develops running and passing, before encouraging taking a pass on the run. The passes might go to the left or the right.
Place two cones 10m apart and three cones 2m to one side of the 10m, set 2m apart. Use one ball.
Three receivers wait at the side cones. A ball carrier runs between the 10m cones and back towards the receivers, as in the first illustration. When you shout “Bang!”, the carrier passes backwards to the nearest receiver. The receivers then pass the ball to the end of the line, as per the second illustration. The ball carrier then runs back to the starting cone, turns and gets a pass back from the end receiver, as in the third illustration. If the carrier passes late, or fails to pass to a receiver’s target area, they swap with one of the receivers. For every pass and catch the carrier makes, they receive a point. They aim to score five points before they swap with one of the receivers.
